For the originality of its ephemeral installations, Decoracción is already one of the most anticipated decorative events of the year in Madrid. It brings together decorators, architects, designers, artists and students from disciplines related to interior design to transform the Barrio de las Letras with magnificent montages in shop windows, facades and interiors of stores and shops.
This year they are more than 100 ephemeral installations under the signature of established talents such as: Tomás Alía, Antoni Arola, Luis García Fraile, Amaro Sánchez de Moya, Erico Navazo, Pablo Paniagua, Nacho García de Vinuesa or Raúl Martíns, among others, and of young talents overflowing with illusion. We review some of the most curious installations that you can find from today until Sunday if you pass by.
AS Interior Designer
The decoration and interior design studio AS Interior Designer, formed by Adriana Somoza and Caridad Tercero, participate for the first time in DecorAcción with two installations full of creativity and symbolism. His personality and distinction are reflected in the facades of "La Taberna de Mariano", in the first photo of this article and "Crispin Heirs", under these lines, bringing the high design closer to the streets of the Barrio de las Letras. Both locals, loaded with history and legend, thus give a twist to their aesthetics with modern and fresh touches, making a wink to the conservation of ancient trades today.
In Mariano's Tavern, AS Interiorista wanted to strengthen the force of tradition through an element as traditional as it is beautiful, red carnations. With a light structure they have created a waterfall of red and white carnations that form a tent outside the premises, where the tables are also dressed in the same shades along with decorative elements always inspired by the Madrid tradition. AS Interior designer has also decorated the facade of Crispin Heirs, art binders, through its own history. Craft and design continue to surround the entrance of this unique space with a variety of plants carefully framed in different sizes. The showcase of Herederos Crispín also reflects the nature of this project with vegetable still lifes.
IKEA participates in this edition of the hand of the ## architecture and interior design studio GÄRNA Studio that makes a sophisticated interpretation of its rooms, showing the products of the Swedish company in a different and surprising way. The space is located on Verónica Street 9 and is a space inspired by "La grotta Azzurra", a fascinating sea cave located on the Island of Capri.
In this space they have recreated a living room IKEA with several environments: dining room, sofas, kitchen, patio ... trying to reproduce what would be a real house. Among the materials they have used are lacquers, woods of different shades and natural fabrics, such as linen and velvet. The chosen color highlights the sobriety of these materials, with a lot of gray, black and white base, emphasizing the “Capri” blue as a complementary color, especially in crystals, resembling the transparency of the blue sea ”, notes Laura Gärna.
Madrid School of Decoration
The Madrid School of Decoration reaffirms its influence in the decoration and interior design sector with a prominent role in DecorAcción. By first time the school actively participates in one of the most dynamic events in the sector. For this occasion, he has chosen one of the most emblematic places in Madrid, located in the most prominent street of the Barrio de las Letras.
To achieve a blunt change through this intervention, we have sought that the classic facade is completely transformed to white, generating in it a second skin and thus achieving the minimalism of it. And it is through color and inspired by Street Art, that they have managed to create contrast and bring light to the installation.
In addition, different students of the Higher University Course of Decoration, Interior Design and Project Management they have worked hand in hand with the school teaching team, to carry out the challenge of generating an ephemeral work in 24 hours, and to put into practice the knowledge and skills acquired during your training period in our center.
Vinci Soho 4 *
For its part Vincci Soho 4 * is transformed these days, between June 8 and 11 to welcome very special guests. Arriving directly from the pages of "The Metamorphoses" of Ovid, the "Myrmidons", ants transformed into men by the capricious will of the Roman gods, will tour the facade of the establishment after living an unforgettable night inside ... A total of 18 ants designed in fiberglass by the Coolesguay brand.
Bill the Roman poet Ovid in his book "The Metamorphoses", that when the Greek island of Aegina was depopulated after a plague, King Éaco begged Jupiter (Zeus for the Greeks) to repopulate his island. The king of the gods took pity on him and turned the ants that inhabited the place into men, who received the nickname "Myrmidons." Considered skilled warriors, very industrious and loyal to their leaders, the "Myrmidons" formed long human chains carrying stones, to be able to carve this island so stony and arid. For a night they take a well-deserved rest to enjoy all the attractions of Madrid's leisure and Vincci Soho, and then return to their ant form, to return home, with their usual tasks and with the feeling of having lived a unforgetable experience.
In this fable by Ovid, the intervention is inspired by Vincci Soho, Calle del Prado 18, which participates one more year in DecorAcción, the interior design party that takes place in the Neighborhood of the letters from yesterday to Sunday, June 11. Passionate about design, art, and architecture, Elena Pinedo, is the architect of this work embodied outside Vincci Soho.
