You will wonder why I titled the entry as The switches I crave instead of the switches I want. It is easy to explain: they are worth an eye of the face. So "by the eye" -value the redundancy- put the switches and plugs that I have fallen in love would cost as much or more than changing the kitchen.
All that does not mean that I share them with you, because they are the reflection of the style I am looking for for these sconces; Something halfway between the retro, the modern and the industrial, especially because part of my electrical installation is going to go outside, as if it were a ship or a heating installation.
I found it so delicious and exclusive discovery at Casa Decor, in the bathroom decorated by the friendly and eloquent Carmen Barasona, which is what we can see in the images. A cheerful and bright space, with a very successful floral inspiration, nothing ornate. Lighting, a mixture of natural and artificial diffuse, helped in this regard.
But let's go back to what interests us now, which are the switches in question. Its commercial name is Five Dot One and they have been designed by Oriol Guimerà and Joan Cinca for Font Barcelona, which has been responsible for the lighting and space mechanisms of Carmen Barasona.
What do I like most about this series? Well, mainly the simplicity of the lines and the magnificent finishes of the materials from which you can choose.
Of the wide variety of finishes available - seven in all - there are two that I especially liked: brushed steel and white corian, another example of the versatility of this material, which advances in its colonization of the house. The rest are somewhat too flashy for my taste, such as silver, two black colors (aluminum and graphite) and two gold (satin and matte).
How could it be otherwise, they also offer the full range of mechanisms that may be needed at home, from basic switches or plugs to dimmers, pushbuttons ... with two finishing options for switches, with or without washer.
Of all the options, no doubt what has me in love are the pin switches. I don't know, I close my eyes and they transport me to the 50s and 60s Americans - this is a full-fledged compliment - while in my head a voice tells me "you want them, you want them" at the same time as my wallet shout from the pocket "you can't, you can't".
I imagine that something like this has ever happened to you all. You have an idea in your head that you can't find anywhere, and suddenly, when it appears before you as a revelation and everything seems to finally fit in! Zas! The harsh reality makes an appearance and leaves you with that bittersweet taste of knowing that there is what you had imagined but reason prevents you from buying. Undoubtedly, it happened to me with the switches I crave.
